The beginnings of Watkins & Watson can be traced back to before the close of the 19th century. The early 20th century saw significant production from the works at White Lion Street, Islington, with the company involved in many areas of air movement and related technologies.
In the early 1970’s production moved from Islington and the industrial, medical and organ blowing divisions separated, with only the latter still retaining its identity. Today, from our Poole based works we are dedicated to maintaining the craft of pipe organ blowing and humidification. Our service engineers operate nationwide on a daily basis maintaining equipment from a variety of manufacturers and of all ages.
In September of 2019, Martin Legg, who, as many will know, has been a steadfast presence within the company for more than thirty years, was joined by his brother, Rob, in acquiring 100% of the company stock in which they now share equal control. A move that was greeted very positively by staff and customers alike.
Rob comes from a marine engineering background, where he held a managerial position with a well known luxury super yacht manufacturer. He had previously developed his skills in the field of prestigious sports cars. He brings his own diverse set of skills, and new thinking, into our portfolio.
Martin and Rob have an eye on the future, yet, remain respectful of the company’s fine heritage. They will ensure that we continue to offer good customer service whilst developing our products and field engineering services in line with the needs of today’s pipe organ industry.
